Second Shooter Guide
Hey! I am so excited to have you team up with me for this wedding. To make sure we are completely aligned and can deliver the best possible gallery for the couple, I’ve put together this quick Second Shooter Guide. These guidelines outline how I usually approach the day, what I need covered, and a few basic house rules to keep everything running smoothly! If you have any questions, feel free to text me!

Basic Second Shooter Etiquette:
Dress to Blend:
Wear professional, all-black attire unless otherwise noted. Clothing should blend in with the guests and overall event. Avoid athletic wear, loud patterns, or overly casual shoes.
No Branding:
Do not wear or carry gear displaying personal business logos, names, or branding.
you are Representing the Lead’s Brand (DSP):
Act as an extension of the lead (DSP) and the DSP brand. Treat the couple, guests, vendors, and venue staff with the highest level of professionalism and respect.
No Self-Promotion:
Do not hand out personal business cards, promote personal photography services, or network for a personal brand during the event. You are representing the leads brand, not your own.
Deferred Communication:
If a guest or vendor asks about photos, pricing, availability, or booking information, direct them to the lead (DSP). Do not discuss independent rates, packages, or booking processes.
Shoot to Complement:
Focus on capturing alternate angles, candid moments, guest reactions, and details rather than duplicating the exact perspective the lead photographer is shooting. Always think about the photos the clients will actually want to receive. When photographing candid moments, look for laughter, smiles, reactions, and natural interactions. Avoid taking large numbers of photos of people simply talking or catching them in the middle of a sentence. Pay attention to flattering angles and compositions. It is better to leave enough space around the subject for the lead (DSP) to crop the image later than to shoot too tightly and leave no room for adjustments.
Do Not Obstruct Guest Views:
During the ceremony, be mindful of where you are standing and moving at all times. Avoid blocking the view of guests, especially during important moments such as the processional, vows, ring exchange, first kiss, and recessional. Do not remain in the center aisle or directly in front of seated guests longer than necessary. Move quietly, stay low when appropriate, and choose angles that allow the ceremony to be photographed without becoming a distraction.
No Creative Hijacking:
Do not interrupt or take over while the lead photographer is directing or posing the couple. Avoid pitching separate posing ideas while the lead is actively working with them. Only provide input if prompted to.
Vendor Courtesies:
Coordinate with the lead photographer regarding meal times and breaks. Never eat before the couple or other vendors.
Phone Etiquette:
Keep personal phones on silent and out of sight during the event. Phones should only be used when necessary for timeline coordination, communication with the lead, or emergencies.
No Smoking or Vaping:
Smoking, vaping, or using tobacco products is strictly prohibited on venue property and anywhere within sight of the couple, guests, or vendors throughout the entire booking. Many venues may fine the couple if someone associated with their event is caught smoking or vaping on the property.
Zero Substance Use:
Do not consume alcohol or recreational substances during the event, even if offered by the couple, guests, or vendors.
Social Media & Tagging:
After the wedding you may post the photos whenever you like. Second shooters may not tag the clients, venue, or vendors on personal or business accounts. All public-facing communication and final image delivery must come exclusively from the lead (DSP) to protect client privacy and maintain brand consistency.
Favorite Moments For Seconds To Capture
Different Angles
Focus on capturing alternate angles, rather than duplicating the exact perspective the lead photographer is shooting. If the lead is shooting from head on, shoot from the side to get a different perspective.
Laughter & Guests
Look for laughter, smiles, reactions, and natural interactions. Avoid taking large numbers of photos of people simply talking or catching them in the middle of a sentence.
In-Between Moments
The best photos are taken during the in-between moments, when you least expect it! Always have your camera up and ready!
BTS
Behind the scenes pictures and videos are always appreciated!
Other Info:
Payment will always be sent the night of, or the following day, using the previously discussed payment method.

Late arrivals or failure to provide agreed-upon services may result in a deduction from payment.
